STCS Scientific Unit activity continues also during the weekends

During the seismic emergency, the activity of the STCS Scientific Unit does not stop... and continues also during the weekends. The back-office of the STCS is managed by the SPRINT-lab researchers and it is composed also by expert firefighters and technicians. Several students have also supported the operations.

Professor Stefano Grimaz, the director of the SPRINT-lab, is in the areas affected by the earthquake, supporting the emergency management, as scientific director of the STCS Scientific Unit.

Central Italy Earthquake 2016 - SCIENTIFIC UNIT

The Scientific Unit of the STCS (Short-term Countermeasures System, Italian National Fire Service) was set-up at the SPRINT-Lab of the University of Udine (Italy).

The Scientific Unit processes the data for STCS personnel, elaborating a safety triage assessment of the buildings damaged by the earthquake of the 24^th August in Central Italy.

MISSION NEPAL 2015 - Closure of the activities

From the 1st to 18th May 2015 the SPRINT-Lab established a Scientific Unit who dealt with the remote processing of the data coming from field surveys in the Kathmandu area, Nepal, after the 25th April Earthquake. The field surveys have been carried out by teams of the Italian National Fire Service with specific training to assess the structural damage of strategic buildings.

MISSION NEPAL 2015 - SCIENTIFIC UNIT

After the 25^th April Earthquake in Nepal, the Italian National Fire Service deployed experts (firefighters with specific technical skills) to Kathmandu in order to assess the structural damage of strategic buildings. In the meanwhile, the SPRINT-Lab team has established a Scientific Unit, and from the 1^st May 2015 it deals with the remote processing of the data coming from field surveys.
